The Youth Activities Committee (JAC) organizes the best activities for VVA’s young members, including volleyball-related events! Think of the Christmas dinner and the youth camp that wraps up the season.
The committee consists of Fee, Sarah, Renée, Ruby, Borsjan (treasurer), and Britt (chairperson).
Do you have a great idea for an activity or a party that simply can’t be missed? Let us know!
Trainings
Each team trains once a week. Additional training sessions are available for those who want to train more.
The training schedule is announced every year in August.
Training sessions may take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Training locations: Sporthal de Laan van Spartaan (green and purple hall) & De Calvijn.
Games
The Youth and Volley Stars teams play in half-season competitions. The first competition starts in September and runs through December. A new half-season competition then begins in January and runs through April. The match schedule is finalized by Nevobo (the Dutch Volleyball Association) in August.
Volley Stars
Home matches for the Volley Stars take place on Saturdays at the Wethouder Verheijhal.
Youth A/B/C
Home matches for the A/B/C teams take place on Saturdays at Laan van Spartaan.
VVA Community on WhatsApp
The VVA Youth Community in WhatsApp is our main communication channel. It is specifically for youth players and their parents/guardians.
The community consists of a general Announcements group (which all members are part of) and several other groups. You will only be a member of the groups that are relevant to you, such as your own team chat and committee chat (if you are part of a committee). Only admins can post messages in the Announcements group. Members can react to messages, but cannot post messages themselves.
Each team also has its own team chat, and members are added at the start of the season.
This website :)
Besides WhatsApp, this members' website is another important communication channel. You should be able to find all the information you need here. Missing something? Let the board know, and we'll make sure to add it!
Inside VVA: The Newsletter
We also regularly publish the Inside VVA newsletter, which is sent by email. All members are automatically added to the mailing list.
Did you know we have our own VVA Youth Instagram account? Make sure to follow us for fun videos and the latest updates!
Did you know that everything at VVA is run by our players, their parents, and other volunteers? Thanks to all these members who volunteer their time, our wonderful club can exist! Together, we make sure you and your teammates can enjoy playing volleyball and taking part in lots of other fun activities.
What does this mean for you as a player and/or parent/guardian?
As a youth player, you can also do your bit! Would you enjoy helping coach another (younger) team, for example, or organizing activities from time to time? The Youth Committee would love your help, so let us know!
Did you know that you can also take additional courses completely free of charge to develop your skills as a trainer, coach, or referee? Aks the Youth Committee about it!.
All A and B youth players complete the Volleybalmasterz Rules Test. Through an online learning platform, you can learn more about the rules of refereeing and discover what it’s like to be a referee! Read more >>
Parents and guardians can also make a valuable contribution to VVA without having to commit a lot of time. The Youth Committee has various roles you can get involved in, and we regularly need an extra pair of hands at special youth events and, for example, behind the bar.
As a member, you pay an annual membership fee. You will be kept informed about membership fee payments via the WhatsApp Community and email. You can find the current membership fees here.
The Confidential Contact Person (VCP) is an approachable point of contact within VVA if something unpleasant has happened or if you have any questions or concerns.
This may involve aggression, bullying, exclusion, intimidation, or other forms of inappropriate or boundary-crossing behaviour. The VCP operates independently of the club’s board, offers a listening ear, helps you think through the situation, and can explain possible next steps.
During matches, players wear the official VVA match shirt.
In the 2026–2027 season, we will be switching to a new supplier for our match shirts. This change will take place during the first half of the season.
The VVA Board is ultimately responsible for the running of the club and currently consists of nine members: the Chairperson, Secretary, two Treasurers, Membership Administrator, Communications Officer, Head of the Technical Committee, Head of Youth, and Volunteer Coordinator.
The Head of Youth also chairs the Youth Committee, which takes care of everything related to our youth members - from training sessions, coaches, and competitions to fun activities.
In addition to the Board and the Youth Committee, many other volunteers are active within VVA, working in various committees. These committees are coordinated by the Volunteer Coordinator. Examples include our Bar Committee, Refereeing Committee, and Equipment Committee.
VVA works together with SAJV, an organization focused on children and young people up to the age of 21. They offer:
Extra volleyball training: Sunday training sessions for players who want to improve their volleyball skills. Check their website for more information.
Free MDT programme: A free MDT programme for young people up to the age of 21. During this programme, you’ll learn everything you need to know about coaching and running training sessions.
